- Project Value: £1.1m
- Project Programme: 16 weeks
Back in November 2016 The Club Company acquired Woodbury Park, which is situated just outside Exeter in 350 acres of beautiful Devon countryside.Woodbury Park Hotel, Golf and Country Club is a 56-bedroom luxury hotel with a stunning 18 hole championship golf course and a beautiful nine- hole course as well. The site has state-of-the-art leisure facilities, including gym, studio, tennis courts and spa treatments. Following on from a number of recent investment projects completed for The Club Company, J M Scully were invited to price and deliver this project which saw the installation of a new Spa facility, Changing rooms, Gym & Creche – all contained within 16 weeks and whilst the whole facility remained live trading throughout.
A key design feature would be the installation of a new split floor within a Squash Court to extend the existing Gym, with the lower level of the Squash Court becoming an extension of the Male and Female Changing Rooms, and a new Hydropool, Sauna and Steam Room, all being carried out in a live environment. Biggest challenge was carrying out the demolition and construction works within a live hotel and leisure centre requiring careful planning to keep the guests and club customers safe and separate them from the works areas and with many noise sensitive areas within the facility such as massage and treatment/relaxation zones the J M Scully delivery team were kept very busy indeed with planning noisy works so as not to create any disruption at all.
Commenting on the Woodbury Park acquisition, Thierry Delsol, chief executive of The Club Company, said: “We are extremely pleased. The site is a perfect addition to our portfolio, as it offers high-quality facilities for all the family. “This investment demonstrates The Club Company’s desire to expand its portfolio, subject to identifying attractive sites in suitable locations.”
