    Project Overview

A new client for J M Scully Ltd but all important in demonstrating our ability to serve the ever changing world of fitness clubs. This project demanded a very competent approach to some complex structural issues and all in an incredibly tight site within close proximity to a very busy transport hub.

The specific structural elements tackled during the delivery of this project comprised:

    • Site demolition and clearance of masonry walls within a 2 level basement and removal of 60 tonnes of recyclable demolition material via double door access onto a busy street adjacent to Farringdon tube station.
    • Temporary works and removal of existing flat cross plate vertical wind bracing to 6 storey high office building and replacement with single tubular tension and compression members.
    • Installation of 25 tonnes of structural steel frameworks and power floated composite concrete floors within a basement environment.
    • Extensive acoustic upgrading works to comply with Planning and Building Regulation requirements for noise segregation in a multi use building

Gymbox is a fledgling brand and growing but it is also beginning to feature heavily in the national press with its ‘night-club’ inspired design and big name resident DJs attracting a lot of attention to a different approach in fitness club design and service provision.
