J M Scully Limited are proud to announce the successful completion of a unique project in the heart of London for Chivas Brothers, owners of the world famous Beefeater Gin brand.
As the only historic London Dry Gin to still be distilled in the heart of the capital, Beefeater will have the privilege of telling the story of London gin through a dedicated visitor centre.
Capitalising on the recent renaissance for gin in the UK capital, the new experience, named “Beefeater London – The Home of Gin”, will offer guests the opportunity to learn about the history of gin through a series of interactive showcases and see, touch and smell the botanicals used within the production process. The experience will also enable visitors to watch the live gin production process in the distillery’s cathedral-like still house.
Work commenced towards the end of 2013 to create the 600 square meters, two-level journey comprising a number of distinct areas that showcase the history of gin production in London, inform visitors on all aspects of distilling gin and of course sampling the product and providing a fully branded retail experience.
The project was particularly challenging due to the very tight programme period and the level of unique one off aspects of the construction and fit-out coupled with a high degree of client and architectural consultant engagement throughout.
Desmond Payne, Master Distiller for Beefeater Gin, one of the leading experts in gin with over 45 years of experience commented “The Beefeater Gin Distillery is one of the city’s best kept secrets. This is a magnificent opportunity to celebrate the heritage of gin in London, something that has been at the heart of the capital’s history for more than three hundred years. I am proud that Beefeater Gin will be the first distiller to tell the full story.”
