JM Scully are proud to announce they are close to completing the highly awaited extension to St Mary’s Church in Ferndown, Dorset. Building started in January this year and is eagerly welcomed by church members and the local community as it extends facilities and ‘future proofs’ the church for the next generation – Building a Place of Belonging.
The extension links the existing church building and church hall and includes a new entrance foyer, café with meeting places and youth facilities. The car park will be reconfigured along with alterations to the existing church.
The development is designed let people “come just as they are” and experience a sense of welcome and belonging that is becoming so rare in our increasingly fragmented society. With that in mind JM Scully actively appointed local labour, suppliers and sourced local materials wherever possible in order to benefit the community as a whole. The project has generated a high level of interest locally and JM Scully have run a number of ‘Open Days’ showing the public, church goers and school children around the site and sharing development news.
J M Scully have organised a topping out ceremony at 2.00pm on 10th July when the last roof tile will be fitted and Sarah Pix, the Rector of St Marys, will bless the new extension. The new Beacon Centre will be inaugurated by the Bishop of Salisbury on 3rd October 2015, a day of celebration and jubilance for all involved in this ambitious project.
