Project Overview

Home Bargains is a chain of discount stores founded in 1976 by Tom Morris in Liverpool, as Home and Bargain. It is the trading name of TJ Morris Ltd, stocking up to 4000 branded product lines and employs over 17,000 people from head office staff to warehouse staff and shop staff. Home Bargains stores can usually be found in major high street locations, as well as in shopping centres and arcades. Most are centrally located though several are in out of town retail parks. Stores range from small to medium outlets, with the retail park outlets being slightly larger. Store sizes are typically between 10,000 sq ft (930 m2) and 25,000 sq ft (2,300 m2).

J M Scully are proud to announce their first major project with this retailer delivering a 2000m2 steel framed shell and core complete with landscaping a car park works across the site.

Challenges on this project centred mainly on the Island location and the J M Scully team initially sourced as much local labour as was practicable to alleviate time and cost pressures in accessing and delivering on site. Careful management of deliveries to the site was also required to ensure they fitted within ferry capacity and logistical issues of transporting materials to site, e.g. the steel frame had to be cut and spliced to allow transport on the ferry.

With plans to develop the brand across new territories in the UK & Ireland, J M Scully hope to deliver more schemes of this type and believe this is solid step in that direction.
