Michael first joined the family business in 1985 and continued throughout his university years graduating from Kingston University in 1992 with a BSC in Quantity Surveying. He then moved to Australia with his family where he completed the Australian professional qualification (AAIQS).
With over 29 years construction experience Michael has worked on the complete range of projects from developing retail complexes, residential dwellings, retirement villages and tourist resorts to manufacturing facilities and schools to sports stadiums in both the UK and Australia.
Michael returned to the family business in November 2011 where he now leads J M Scully Limited in the role of Managing Director.
Richard joined J M Scully Ltd as Contract Surveyor in 1999 and quickly progressed to Managing Surveyor then Surveying Director in November 2004.
He brings strong functional leadership to the development and management of the Commercial Team - a wide ranging role which involves overall Project Cost Control & Analysis, developing close commercial relationships with our customers and meeting their financial expectations, monitoring and assessment of QS ISO Quality Assurance procedures, oversight on sub-contract procurement and implementation of preferred supplier framework agreements and contractual and risk management.
With over 28 years experience in the construction industry and 15 years with J M Scully, Richard embodies the family values and consistently maintains a professional and focussed approach to all matters commercial ensuring we and our customers, fulfil our obligations and deliver on our promises.
John joined J M Scully in 1994. With his confident and can-do approach, he consistently meets the challenge’s set by our clients in the fast moving retail sector.
Throughout his time with J M Scully John has generated a strong and mature partnership with one of our leading customers, Alliance Boots, delivering construction and fit out services right across the Boots property portfolio, including Lean Construction and Disaster Recovery, from low-value, high-volume intensification schemes through to major capital works projects.
In April 2012 John received an Excellence Award from Mike Green, Head of Boots Property Services, for his ‘Outstanding Individual Contribution’ to Boots services.
He is also actively involved in value engineering and waste elimination with our clients, and has a pro-active approach to low carbon technology solutions, which we are currently implementing across a wide range of projects.
With over 39 years of delivery experience John provides J M Scully and our customers with a safe pair of hands, leading our delivery teams across the board.
Shirley graduated from Nottingham Trent in 1986 with a BSC in Quantity Surveying becoming RICS accredited in 1988.
Having held several Associate roles with leading Surveying Practices in Australia, Shirley moved back with Michael to the UK in 2011 and joined JM Scully to assist the Managing Director with the administration of the business before assuming her current role of Director.
With 35 years in industry, Shirley’s range of experience covers all aspects of the construction and fit-out market and her strong and analytical approach saw her take temporary leadership of the family business allowing Michael to focus on stability and growth before assuming his current role as Managing Director.
Shirley now oversees all Operations including HR and is currently engaged in a complete review and overhaul of our systems and procedures.
Darren initially worked with J M Scully in a consulting role back in 2000 but over the years his skill and passion for the role made him an indispensable asset and he took full employment in 2008 ultimately being appointed Estimating Director in May 2015..
His approach to Estimating has seen J M Scully thrive in what is always a fiercely competitive arena and our strike rate has always been better than industry average under his tenure.
With an approach to Estimating that brings the wider delivery team together from first principles, Darren has overseen a significant change in how we tender for new projects. His function takes responsibility for cost planning, tendering, framework renewals and negotiation of all projects across the business.
In recognition of his diligence and success in leading this vital function, Darren was promoted to the Main Board as Estimating Director in May 2015 adding to the core strength of the organisation.
With a BSc (Hons) in Construction and over 15 years in the industry he brings both knowledge and experience to the organisation and his background in Surveying is a major asset when working with or for the professional teams appointed by our customers.
